I-195, N.N.Polikarpov

As soon as the idea of maneuvrable biplane fighter was still popoular among military specialists, N.N.Polikarpov in Summer 1940 tried to bring speed of biplane closer to monoplane fighters by fitting powerful M-90 engine to airframe similar to I-190. Other improvements included complete removal of bracing wires/tapes and enclosed cocpit.
Project was doomed from the very beginning and was never realised.
